Powiatowy Dom Pomocy Społecznej w Płazie znajdujący się w niewielkiej wsi położonej w województwie małopolskim w powiecie chrzanowskim w gminie Chrzanów przeznaczony jest dla osób przewlekle psychicznie chorych kobiet i mężczyzn. Płaza znajduje się w niewielkiej odległości od Chrzanowa, Krakowa oraz Katowic.
DPS znajduje się w dużym dworku z XVII wieku w pięknym otoczeniu okolicznej przyrody. Cały teren otoczony jest kamiennym murem, a w jego skład wchodzi między innymi Park Pałacowy, budynki mieszkalne, budynki gospodarcze. Dom posiada 114 miejsc noclegowych dla swoich podopiecznych, którym oferuje całodobową opiekę, zaspokaja podstawowe potrzeby bytowe oraz duchowe, a wszystko to w miłej domowej, pełnej szacunku i zrozumienia domowej atmosferze.
DPS w Płazie dysponuje dobrymi warunkami mieszkaniowymi. W kilku budynkach znajdują się pokoje 1 – 4 osobowe w pełni wyposażone z łazienkami przystosowanymi dla osób niepełnosprawnych. DPS dysponuje ponadto świetlicą wykorzystywaną też jako jadalnia, pracowniami terapeutycznymi, gabinetami lekarskimi, zabiegowymi, gabinetem stomatologicznym, pokojami dziennego pobytu, podjazdami dla wózków, windą dla osób niepełnosprawnych, sala rehabilitacji, gabinetem masażu, kaplicą, pokojem gościnnym, warsztatami terapii zajęciowej dla mieszkańców, systemem alarmowym oraz pożarowym.
Wszyscy mieszkańcy mają zapewnioną opiekę lekarską w tym wsparcie psychiatry, oraz w razie potrzeby lekarzy innych specjalności.
DPS w Płazie oferuje swoim mieszkańcom bogaty wybór zajęć terapeutycznych takich jak np. hafciarstwo, lalkarstwo, wikliniarstwo, malowanie na szkle, papieroplastyka, malarstwo, filcowanie, teatroterapia, filmoterapia, muzykoterapia, biblioterapia.
W ramach zajęć rehabilitacyjnych mieszkańcy mogą skorzystać z rehabilitacji leczniczej, hipoterapii, psychoterapii, hortikuloterapii.
