W województwie dolnośląskim, w powiecie oleśnickim, w okolicy gospodarstw rolnych oraz pól uprawnych, w bardzo cichej i kameralnej okolicy, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej, filia Powiatowego Domu Pomocy Społecznej w Ostrowinie, przeznaczony dla 67 kobiet niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie. Placówka znajduje się w zabudowaniach po dawnej szkole podstawowej, oraz w nowo powstałym, bardzo nowoczesnym pawilonie mieszkalnym. Oba budynki pozbawiono barier architektonicznych, wyposażone są w windy oraz podjazdy dla wózków inwalidzkich. Baza mieszkaniowa składa się z pokojów jedno, dwu, trzy i czteroosobowych, każdy posiada inny wystrój, każdy odzwierciedla charakter i upodobania mieszkanek. Niektóre pokoje posiadają własne TV, każdy dostęp do węzła sanitarnego. Najbliższe otoczenie Domu to zachęcające do spacerów oraz różnorakiej innej aktywności tereny spacerowe.
Placówka zapewnia całodobową opiekę, pomoc medyczną. Mieszkanki mają możliwość udziału w zajęciach rehabilitacji, do dyspozycji oddana jest sala gimnastyczna, wyposażona w materace, drabinki, piłki, przybory do zabaw i ćwiczeń manualnych, hantle oraz przyrządy stacjonarne: rotory, cykloergometry, orbitrek i atlas do ćwiczeń rozwijających siłę. Ponadto na sali można grać w tenisa stołowego. Uzupełnieniem oferty rehabilitacyjnej jest wanna do hydroterapii, zaś w ramach zajęć, relaksacji oraz doskonalenia umiejętności w pływaniu organizowane są wyjazdy nad zalew i do Aquaparku. Nad rozwojem społecznym i intelektualnym czuwają terapeuci, którzy organizują zajęcia muzykoterapii, biblioterapii, ergoterapii, silwoterapii, terapii krosna, terapii kulinarnej, w salonie urody oraz terapii haftu, makramy i robótek ręcznych. Czas wolny wypełniają liczne spotkania towarzyskie, imprezy okolicznościowe, udział w życiu społecznym, sportowym oraz kulturalnym okolicznych miast, organizowane są wyjazdy do kina, teatru, operetki, muzeum, a także do ogrodu zoologicznego, botanicznego i kawiarni.
