W Radomiu, przy ulicy Wyścigowej, w gęsto zabudowanej budynkami wielorodzinnymi części miasta, w centrum osiedla „Ustronie”, nieopodal licznych punktów usługowych, sklepów oraz instytucji, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej „Weterana Walki i Pracy”, przeznaczony dla 190 osób, w tym dla 80 w podeszłym wieku oraz 110 przewlekle, somatycznie chorych. Placówka znajduje się w 4 kondygnacyjnym bloku mieszkalnym, przystosowanym dla osób niepełnosprawnym – posiada windy, podjazdy. Mieszkańcy mają do dyspozycji własne jedno lub dwu osobowe, niezależne mieszkania, M-1 o powierzchni 24 m2, M-2 o powierzchni 34 m2. Każde mieszkanie posiada pokój(e), kuchnię, łazienkę, przedpokój oraz balkon. Sposób zamieszkiwania pensjonariuszy, czyli każdy w swoim odrębnym mieszkaniu, sprawia, że panuje tu atmosfera jak w zwykłym bloku wielorodzinnym. Mieszkania są umeblowane „po swojemu”, każdy czuje się w nich jak w swoim domu. Dodatkowo do dyspozycji pensjonariuszy przygotowano świetlicę, bibliotekę, kaplicę, w której odbywają się nabożeństwa w każdą niedzielę i święta, pokój kąpielowy wyposażony w sprzęt umożliwiający kąpiel osób niepełnosprawnych ruchowo, gabinet fryzjerski, pokoje dziennego pobytu oraz pokoje gościnne.
DPS zapewnia całodobową opiekę, pomoc medyczną, zajęcia rehabilitacji ruchowej oraz terapeutyczne – terapię kulinarną, biblioterapię, treningi umiejętności społecznych (zajęcia aktywizujące, rozwijające zainteresowania), a także zajęcia edukacyjne. Czas wolny wypełniają imprezy okolicznościowe, uroczystości, udział w wydarzeniach kulturalnych, gry i zabawy stolikowe, projekcje filmów na video, wycieczki, imprezy plenerowe, wyjazdy na turnusy rehabilitacyjne oraz do miejsc kultu religijnego (np. Licheń, Częstochowa). Placówka posiada własny samochód wyposażony w windę przystosowaną do przewozu osób niepełnosprawnych, poruszających się na wózku inwalidzkim.
