W niezwykle malowniczej i urokliwej dolnośląskiej wiosce Miłków, położonej u podnóża Karkonoszy, w powiecie jeleniogórskim, w gminie Podgórzyn, w pobliżu gęstych terenów leśnych, w bardzo cichej i spokojnej okolicy, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej, przeznaczony dla 102 chłopców i młodych ludzi niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie. Mieszkańcy Domu to osoby niepełnosprawne w stopniu od umiarkowanego do głębokiego oraz dodatkowo dotknięte takimi schorzeniami jak autyzm, zespół Downa, dziecięce porażenie mózgowe, wodogłowia, niepełnosprawność ruchowa różnego stopnia, niewidzenie oraz zespół schizofrenopodobny.
DPS mieści się w nowoczesnych i komfortowych, pozbawionych barier architektonicznych budynkach. Dom przystosowany jest do przyjmowania osób niepełnosprawnych, pokoje urządza się w miarę możliwości zgodnie z sugestiami mieszkańca. Łazienki i pomieszczenia sanitarne wyposażono w niezbędne uchwyty ułatwiające korzystanie z nich osobom niepełnosprawnym. Ponadto mieszkańcy mają do dyspozycji liczne pomieszczenia wspólne – świetlice, zaplecze rehabilitacyjne i terapeutyczne.
Placówka zapewnia całodobową opiekę, pomoc medyczną, zajęcia rehabilitacyjne, terapeutyczne, a także w zakresie potrzeb edukacyjnych – pobieranie nauki szkolnej, uczestnictwo w zajęciach rewalidacyjnych oraz wychowaniu przez doświadczenie życiowe. Czas wolny zapełnia m. in. czynny udział w szeregu imprez kulturalnych, rekreacyjnych i sportowych – chłopcy czynnie uprawiają sport w ramach sekcji Olimpiad Specjalnych „Liczyrzepa”.
