DPS Kombatant Olsztyn
Na obrzeżach Olsztyna, w bardzo cichej i zielonej części miasta, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej „Kombatant”, przeznaczony dla 143 osób przewlekle somatycznie chorych i w podeszłym wieku. DPS ma charakter ponadlokalny. Placówka powstała w latach 1975-1980. W ciągu ponad 30 lat Dom wielokrotnie zmieniał swoje oblicze – m. in. dobudowano dodatkowe skrzydło budynku, w którym oprócz pokoi mieszkalnych znalazły się gabinety fizykoterapii, hydroterapii i masażu. Obiekt dostosowano do potrzeb osób niepełnosprawnych (wykonano podjazdy, oporęczowano korytarze i zamontowano windy). Dziś budynek Domu pozbawiony jest barier architektonicznych, przystosowano go w pełni do potrzeb osób o ograniczonej sprawności.
Mieszkańcy mają do dyspozycji przytulne pokoje jedno i dwuosobowe – każdy z łazienką, przedpokojem i balkonem. Ponadto mogą korzystać z doskonale wyposażonej sali gimnastycznej, sali widowiskowej, czytelni, biblioteki, stołówki, pralnii, zaplecza rehabilitacyjnego i medycznego, kaplicy oraz sklepiku spożywczego. Dom położony jest w pięknej dzielnicy willowej otoczony terenami zielonymi i lasem miejskim doskonałymi do odpoczynku i rekreacji.
DPS zapewnia całodobową opiekę, pomoc medyczną, zajęcia rehabilitacyjne oraz terapeutyczne – m. in. muzykoterapia, biblioterapia, tkaniny artystycznej, ogrodnictwa. W Domu funkcjonuje zespół „Teatru Poezji” oraz chór „Wrzos”, uświetniające swoimi występami wiele imprez okolicznościowych. Czas wolny wypełniają liczne spotkania towarzyskie, udział w wydarzeniach kulturalnych oraz rekreacyjnych, wyjścia oraz dalsze wyjazdy. Warto dodać, że przy Domu Pomocy Społecznej „Kombatant” od 2005 r funkcjonuje Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy dla Osób z Zaburzeniami Psychicznymi (z chorobą Alzheimera).
