DPS Szklarska Poręba
W przepięknej górskiej okolicy, na obrzeżach Szklarskiej Poręby, w sąsiedztwie gęstych lasów, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej, przeznaczony dla 63 dzieci i młodzieży niepełnosprawnej intelektualnie, wyłącznie dla dziewcząt. DPS prowadzony jest przez Caritas. Placówka istnieje tu nieprzerwanie od 1925 roku. Dziś jest to bardzo nowoczesny ośrodek, spełniający najwyższe standardy, posiadający wszelkie udogodnienia dla osób niepełnosprawnych, w tym poruszających się na wózku inwalidzkim – łazienki i toalety przystosowane są dla osób niepełnosprawnych, a wewnątrz budynku znajduje się winda osobowa.
Najbliższe otoczenie Domu to zadbany teren zielony, pełen dorodnych drzew, alejek spacerowych i miejsc rekreacji. Mieszkanki mają do dyspozycji przytulną bazę mieszkaniową, a także liczne pomieszczenia wspólne, w tym świetlice, zaplecze terapeutyczne, rehabilitacyjne i rekreacyjne oraz kaplicę. W ramach rehabilitacji oferowana jest m. in. gimnastyka, magnetoterapia, laseroterapia, światłolecznictwo, hydroterapia oraz masaż klasyczny i relaksacyjny. Celem rehabilitacji jest utrzymanie sprawności fizycznej i motorycznej Mieszkanek oraz dbanie o jak najdłuższą samodzielność w życiu codziennym. Kolejną formą aktywizacji jest terapia, która dba o rozwój oraz buduje zainteresowania. W ramach zajęć terapeutycznych oferowana jest pracownia rękodzieła artystycznego, plastyczna, muzykoterapii, teatralna – w Domu funkcjonuje koło teatralne pod nazwą „Szarotki Górskie”. Ponadto oferowane są, cieszące się ogromnym zainteresowaniem, zajęcia dogoterapii.
Placówka zapewnia także całodobową opiekę oraz pomoc medyczną. Gwarantowana jest realizacja obowiązku szkolnego – w Specjalnym Ośrodku Szkolno – Wychowawczym w Jeleniej Górze oraz w zajęciach rewalidacyjno – wychowawczych, prowadzonych przez nauczycieli z Zespołu Szkół Specjalnych w DPS „Junior” w Miłkowie (zajęcia odbywają się w Domu). Czas wolny wypełniają liczne spotkania towarzyskie, imprezy okolicznościowe, wycieczki, wyjazdy na wczasy i turnusy rehabilitacyjne oraz spacery po przepięknej górskiej okolicy.
