Na obrzeżach Pabianic, w cichej i spokojnej okolicy, nieopodal przepięknego „Parku Wolności”, położony jest Dom Pomocy Społecznej, przeznaczony dla 125 osób przewlekle somatycznie chorych. Zabudowania Domu znajdują się na dużym terenie, pełnym zieleni, alejek spacerowych i miejsc rekreacji. Dom składa się z dwóch części – starej, przeznaczonej głównie dla osób leżących – wyposażonej w pokoje jedno, dwu i trzy osobowe, z łazienkami w ciągach korytarzowych, przystosowanymi do potrzeb osób niepełnosprawnych oraz nowej – posiadającej pokoje jedno i dwuosobowe połączone w zespoły po dwa z łazienkami przystosowanymi dla osób niepełnosprawnych. Ponadto wszystkie budynki Domu przystosowane są dla osób niepełnosprawnych, w tym dla poruszających się na wózku inwalidzkim. Mieszkańcy mają także do dyspozycji liczne pomieszczenia wspólne, w tym świetlice, kuchenki podręczne, zaplecze terapeutyczne oraz rehabilitacyjne, a także kaplicę.

DPS zapewnia całodobową opiekę, pomoc medyczną, zajęcia rehabilitacyjne oraz terapeutyczne. Na dużą uwagę zasługuje specjalistyczna terapia dla osób z chorobą Alzheimera i innymi rodzajami otępień, według autorskiej koncepcji psycholog Moniki Ponichtery-Kasprzykowskiej i instruktorki terapii zajęciowej. Placówka pod tym względem jest rodzynkiem wśród DPS-ów. Zajęcia odbywają się w małych 5-6 osobowych grupach, w przystosowanym do tej formy terapii pokoju. Czas wolny wypełniają liczne spotkania towarzyskie, imprezy okolicznościowe, wyjścia oraz wyjazdy, udział w ważnych wydarzeniach sportu i kultury.
